So long for now, Los Angeles…

Well, it’s official, tomorrow we’re saying goodbye to Los Angeles and hello to Dallas once again. After nearly four years of calling the City of Angels home we’re heading back to the Big D. It’s bittersweet.  We couldn’t be happier to be moving closer to family and friends. Texas is home. Even though we’ve had a love-hate relationship with Los Angeles, we’re going to miss it.  Okay, so we won’t miss the horrendous traffic, limited (NO) parking and the smog…but LA’s more endearing qualities, those, we’ll miss.

In spite of spending many a day cursing Los Angeles, the city has taught me many lessons and exposed me to opportunities I would’ve never had elsewhere. I am so glad we had the chance to live there. There’s so much to discover; so many great road trips to take and every kind of restaurant/bar you could ever want.

There’s no getting around the fact that Los Angeles is an expensive city to live in. Despite the high cost of living there are plenty of free things to enjoy, especially if you like the outdoors. Hiking, beaches, bike trails, mountains–California truly has it all. Not to mention the awesome weather: December, sunny and 70; March, sunny and 70…July, once again sunny and 70.  That we will definitely miss…primarily when we are melting in the mid-summer Texas heat.

California will always have a special place in our hearts. We’ve made a pact to come back at least once a year and we are going to do our best to honor it. The last two weeks we’ve been on an LA binge; trying our best to hit all our favorite spots one last time. It’s felt kind of like a vacation! Cocktails, beer, Thai food, tacos, pizza, coffee, waffles, with a beach run and hike thrown in for good measure (there had to be some kind of damage control for the rapidly expanding waistlines).

Cheers to you, Los Angeles! It’s been a fun ride.
