Pump Up the Jams

When planning a trip I often hear people talking about what they are packing, what they’re going to do while on their trip, what they are going to eat and where they’re staying.  One thing I never hear people talking about when getting ready for a trip is music.  To me music and traveling go hand in hand.

I love making playlists for my trips. The last few nights I have started making my “Iceland” playlist.  To me music helps enhance the experience when I travel.  I love walking around and getting lost in new cities and listening to music and enjoy getting lost in the moment.  Remember that music provides the soundtrack to life.

So for our trip Iceland I have added some Bjork, Of Monsters and Men, The Sugarcubes which are all good Icelandic bands.  I have also added some tunes from Bob Dylan, City and Colour, Eddie Vedder, Feist, Flickerstick, Broken Bells, The Kooks, The Lumineers, The Shins, Rilo Kiley, BB King, Van Morrison, Otis Redding, Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Leon Russell, Townes Van Zandt and of course Johnny Cash.

Any suggestions to add to my playlist?  What is your favorite “vacation” song?

  1. Great choices! I listen to a lot of the same stuff and will definitely be looking into some others that you’ve mentioned. My last road I listened to a lot of Radio Head and Needetobreathe, especially Needtobreathe’s song, “Drive all night”.

Whenever I’m on a hiking trip I find that I listen to a lot of Pretty Lights. It’s like a soul/pop/electro blend. Easy to zone out to, you should take a listen to The Time Has Come by him 😉

    Happy Travels!
